Teams

A team is a named group of actors inside your organization. Teams let you look at the combined tool calls, sessions and spend of a group of machines and agents, for example everything your platform engineers’ laptops and CI runners produce. Teams contain actors, not members: you add the actors that send telemetry, not the people who sign in.

Any member can view teams. Only admins can create and delete teams and change who is on them.

The Teams page

Manage → Teams lists every team in the organization. The All teams table shows:

  • Team: the team name, linked to the team’s page.
  • Actors: how many actors are on the team, including deactivated actors.
  • Manage: opens the team’s page. Admins also see Delete.

If the organization has no teams, the page says “No teams yet.” Admins see Create the first team; members see “An admin of this organization can create one.”

Creating a team

You must be an admin.

  1. Open Manage → Teams.
  2. In the New team card, enter a Team name of up to 120 characters.
  3. Select Create team.

Team names must be unique within the organization. If the name is taken, the page shows “A team named name already exists.” A team cannot be renamed after it is created.

Adding actors to a team

You must be an admin.

  1. Open Manage → Teams and select the team, or select Manage on its row.
  2. In the Add an actor card, choose an actor from the Actor list. Each option shows the actor’s display name and kind, for example “CI build agent — agent”.
  3. Select Add to team.

The Actor list offers every actor in the organization that is not already on this team. When every actor is already on the team, or the organization has no actors, the card says “Every actor in this organization is already on this team.” An actor can belong to more than one team.

Removing actors from a team

You must be an admin.

  1. Open the team’s page.
  2. In the Roster table, select Remove on the actor’s row.

Removing an actor from a team does not change the actor, its ingest key, or its telemetry.

The team page

The team page shows the team name and how many actors are on it. The Roster table lists each actor with its Actor (display name), Kind and Role label. Members see the roster without the Add an actor card or the Remove buttons.

Deleting a team

You must be an admin.

  1. Open Manage → Teams.
  2. On the team’s row, select Delete.

The banner confirms “Team deleted.” There is no confirmation step. Deleting a team removes the grouping only. The actors on it, their ingest keys and all telemetry are unchanged.

How teams affect the dashboard

The Overview, Sessions, Tool calls and Trends pages have a Scope control with three kinds of option:

  • Whole organization: everything the organization has recorded.
  • Teams: one option per team. Selecting a team shows telemetry from the actors on that team.
  • Actors: one option per actor. While a team is selected, this group lists only that team’s actors.

Scope narrows what you are looking at; it does not restrict access. Every member can select every team and every actor.

A team’s view is based on who is on the team when you look. Adding an actor to a team brings that actor’s earlier telemetry into the team’s view too, and removing an actor takes its telemetry out of the team’s view. A team that has never had any actors shows no data.

See The dashboard for the pages that carry the Scope control.
